Concurrent Chats

Hi folks,
I have been tasked with working out the average amount of chats handled at a given time. We cap at 4 (our max number an agent can be working on at any one time) but we want to evaluate how many our agents are typically working. I will be honest I don't even know where to begin with this.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
