Transfer of performance documents "evaluated by" is defaulting to new manager

When transferring a performance document from manager to another, the Evaluated By field gets updated to the new manager/ transferred manager which is not correct because it is in read only when transferred.

is there a way that this field is not defaulting to the transferred manager?
