Is it possible to update manager comment with HDL in a performance document?

We have the need to update the manager comment with HDL but, the field from the table is a CLOB (lenght 4000) while with HDL, for the business object ''Performance Document'' it is possible to load the field ''Comments'' with a lenght of 255 char. Is it possible to load the full comment?
