Under Structure in performance template

In the structure tab for performance templates, there use to be a yes or no dropdown under 'update profile' and it no longer shows. Does anyone know why? We want the performance rating to show in the talent review for the employee and this was selected as yes on pervious templates (I have to make a new template because we made changes to the workflow and now I can't click yes like I could in our old one) what will this effect?
