Fast Formula Error: Value exceeded the allowable range (for evaluating life event)

Summary:

Hello,

We are getting the following error message "Formula MTW_BENEFITS_DATE, line 37, an arithmetic, string, or conversion error occurred. (FF-1605000) The value exceeded the allowable range. For example, a string value may be too long." This is happening when we are trying to evaluate a life event for a retired employee. This error message also appears sometimes for active employees as well. This doesn't happen to everyone or any specific life event. I'm just wondering what is potentially causing this issue. See screenshot below.
