Descriptive Flex field in Contact Relationship page to trigger life event

Summary:

We created a descriptive flexfield to capture the Relationship End Date of the contact since the ootb Effective End Date field cannot be used to trigger life event. We used this flexfield to trigger Loss of Dependent life event but the issue is it keeps on triggering when there is like updates in the fields on the page or when we are adding a new contact.
