How to index out-of-the-box fields

How do I create an index on a field that came with the Service Cloud application? We are able to create indices on our custom fields via the Object Designer, however we use some of the out-of-the-box fields on reports as well. One example is tasks.completed (the date the task has been closed/completed). This is not on the data dictionary index list for the task object and isn't indexed when analyzing the reports where it is used.
