Required fields in customers

Summary:

Currently we have several standard fields in customers, which are required to be mandatory. We have tried to perform the process through SandBox, however, in the field label appears * symbol which indicates that it is required, but when saving the information, the field can be empty without any restriction. Is there any alternative that forces to fill in the following fields?

Account Type
