Reporting on Duplicate Values

We have a requirment to report on a custom object and if we find a duplicate in a certain field, show the 2 records on the report. The person who wrote the requirment based his thinking on a function MS Access provides OOTB. I may not be thinking the requirment through fully, but doesn anyone have a tried and true method for detecting duplicates?
