Matrix Managers - access to create/edit check-ins

Summary:

We would like to allow our Matrix Managers (Mentors in our scenario) to create a check-in for their mentee/employee. In the redwood screens, they are currently receiving a white screen because they don't have access to create/update a check-in. They currently have access to submit feedback as part of the performance document and they can see the mentee/employee's goals. I'm not sure what permission is missing or if this is a limitation?

What permissions do they need to create/edit check-ins? How can I get them access to manage check-ins for their assigned mentee/employee?
