Best practice for making old performance templates and sections inactive

Summary:

We have been using Performance since 2018, and during that period we have accumulated various template sections and document templates which are no longer in use. I would like to make anything we no longer use inactive.

I can see that with performance template sections, they can only be ended dated, whereas performance templates can be end dated and made inactive. I just wondered what the best practice is?
