Count of ans_stats.hits including 0

I'm making a report to count the ans_stats.hits for all answers in a given time period.

I have an outer join on answers and ans_stats and the only filter is on date. I expect it to show 0 for answers that don't have an entry in the ans_stats table, but it doesn't list them at all.

Is there another way to include 0?
