Analytics Permissions From Report Editor vs Profile Editor

Hi,

So when editing reports you can change the edit/vew permissions for the different profiles from there. But also if you open a profile's settings and go to 'Analytics' you can select folders, edit the permissions, and they get a checkmark or a square.

So what is the difference between these two?

Does one override the oner one/has more priority?
