Redwood: Receiving error when duplicating National Identifiers in ORC on an Application

Summary:

Has anyone solved SSN duplicate issues in Redwood applications, or automated cleanup of National Identifiers for rejected/withdrawn candidates?

We recently moved to Redwood for Requisition and Candidate pages and discovered an issue with SSN entry during applications. When an applicant enters a SSN that already exists, Redwood returns an error, forcing the Recruiter to manually search for the candidate by name and delete the duplicate SSN. This has become very time‑consuming.

In Responsive UI, duplicates were caught before moving to HR through the duplicate process. In Redwood, we traced the behavior to the profile option ORA_PER_NID_UNIQUENESS, which is set to Error. This setting is also used in Core HR for updating or correcting SSNs.

Howdy, Stranger!
