Errors when processing two life events close together

We're having an overlapping rates issues when we have two sequential life events that get processed on an employee within the same month.

For example, they had a Birth event processed early February and later in February they get a salary change. The fast formula in the salary change life event is trying to pick a rate start date prior to the birth event, and so therefore it errors on the life event evaluation. What we've been doing is temporarily removing the formula on the life event, changing it from Formula to Event, processing the life event, then resetting the formula within the life event configuration. There is major room for error here and I don't like temporarily modifying the configuration each time
