How to detect if a File Type property is empty or has a file uploaded

We want to extract Files / Images from OFSC, how to determine the file property is not empty before we make the API calls.

In Field Service Cloud, we have an option for our Techs to upload multiple Files. The Tech can upload as many as he needs. In order to archive the files - we are using the Activity File APIs to GET the files. How to ensure - we run the GET API only for non empty properties. How can we determine if a File property is empty or has a file uploaded? Is there any way to programmatically determine this?
