Can we have approval for date of death field update from ESS page

Hi All,
We have created Death of spouse or dependent event, which is an employee-initiated event from the ESS page. We have enabled the Date of Death (DOD) field on the benefits contact screen to allow updates for the deceased dependent. However, our business requires some form of approval for this field to help prevent accidental DOD updates. Approval will trigger if employee is adding this event and uploading the document but if this field gets updated by mistake by employee without adding event, we need to see some approval.
At the moment, I don't see any approval workflow for DOD updates in the transaction console. Could you please let me know if it's possible to set up an approval process for this field update?
