Customer credit for hierarchy is not working

Summary:

I have the customer hierarchy defined and the profile option of AR credit hierarchy type is also set to customer hierarchy. I have only given the credit limit at the parent customer account level and no credit limit for child account is defined. The order on child account is going on hold even though the parent still has open limit.
