Can we control adding only child contact type for birth life event and not spouse?

Has anyone figured a way to restrict adding only a certain relationship type for a particular life event? For example: Add only child contact type on dependent designation for birth of child life event. Should not be able to designate a spouse or add a spouse into enrollments for the birth of child life event.
