Best practices for setting up Sales Order and Sales Order Line indexes in Redwood

We are looking for information on configuring the Sales Order and Sales Order Line indexes for Redwood. Which attributes should we included in the index and are there performance implications with having too many attributes included in the index.

Currently our Sales Order index contains 119 attributes, which is all the attributes available. The Sales Order Line index contains 194 attributes, only 36 attributes that are not in the index. This seems like too much to me, when I think of indexes I think small subsets of data specifically used for searching. But I cannot find any documentation that tells us what attributes should be included in the index.
