Why does my Solaris 11.4 server require grub username/password every reboot now?
I have recently patched my Solaris 11.4 servers with the SRU. After patches, we reboot to apply the new boot environment. Everything seemed to go pretty standard.
That was until last night when we rebooted a server. It didn't come up right away, so I got on the console and it was asking for the grub username/password. After entering the info, it booted right up as usual. But now, every time the server boots it asks for the name/pass. This is also happening with other servers I've tested so far.
Was this a change in a recent patch?
Thanks in advance!
Re: Why does my Solaris 11.4 server require grub username/password every reboot now?
Hi,
The GRUB (Grand Unified Bootloader) password requirement on a Solaris 11.4 server after a reboot is likely due to a deliberate security measure implemented by the system administrator or a configuration change that was made. Specifically, the bootadm set-menu command can be used to set a password for accessing the GRUB menu.

Re: Why does my Solaris 11.4 server require grub username/password every reboot now?
The upgrade from Solaris 11.4 SRU 80 or earlier to SRU 81 or later will upgrade GRUB from version 1.99 to 2.12, but it shouldn't prompt for a password unless an admin has configured it to do so. (The actual upgrade of the bootloader happens after you boot into the new SRU for the first time, so it doesn't appear at boot until the second boot of the new SRU.)
Re: Getting Server Busy Error when trying to update field in EBC
Hello,
- Were there any FDR/Crash files generated?
- How was the EBC configured?
I would recommend in this situation to proceed with logging a Service Request with Oracle Siebel Support team. They will be able to analyze the issue, review the available log files and provide a solution.
Thank you!

Re: Issue with duplicate SIP Registrations
Hello Pedro,
I would recommend that if you do not get any suggestions here, you should probably open case with support so that they can look deeper at the issue.

Re: Question Regarding 'Next Status' Field from P04571 in Query Manager
Hello User,
Next Status is a derived field and is not present in F04571 table that's why its not shown in Query Manager of P04571.
