Re: Getting "Cannot call getText() on a secret entry" error while migrating order version 21 to 25
Hi all,
Just wanted to let everyone know - I decided to download some older versions of ORDS to see if I could migrate my config that way.
Using 22.1 to migrate my config worked, but it gave me a bunch of warnings about some of my config entries not being valid, and it also uses an outdated interactive interface to upgrade your pools (I aborted after it migrated my config).
Using 24.1 also worked. No warnings about config entries, and it gives me an option to update each pool individually.
Both worked with my legacy config including having the encryped "db.password" entries - it created the wallet and everything.
So I'm not sure when this "getText() on a secret entry" bug got introduced, but presumably we should be able to first migrate from 21.x to 24.x to successfully migrate the config, and then we can upgrade to 25.4.2.
I'm going to try every version between 24.1 and 25.4 until I start seeing the getText() error - I will post back when I find the highest version you can use for migration without encountering this error.
Re: R42950 and Basket/Order Level Adjustments
Hi @User_KUZ38,
Running the Sales Order Batch Price/Cost Update (R42950) will not automatically recalculate basket or order level adjustments.
These adjustments will only be recalculated if the version of R42950 calls a version of Sales Order Entry (P4210) where Processing Option 4 on the Process tab is set to '1' (Perform Auto Repricing).

Mahesh

I'm not seeing any updates to the 1099 Threshholds for 2026. Was there a patch provided? @Srinivas-Oracle Support-Oracle @Alex Barbu-Oracle
Re: Multiplexing Control files and Redo log files on ODA x10-HA
Hi,
Further multiplexing the control file and redo logs isn’t necessary. ASM already provides redundancy automatically, with the minimum level being mirrored (double) or triple.
While it’s technically possible, on ODA it’s considered a customization. Also note that additional multiplexing would double or triple the number of writes.
Control files and redo logs typically reside in SSD/NVMe diskgroups, so any additional target would need to be a separate SSD/NVMe diskgroup as well—otherwise performance could be impacted.

Re: Criteria for CPU core sizing when migrating Oracle DBs from SPARC/Solaris to Linux
I wouldn't use AWR to help me decide a good core count. I would use OS metrics instead. You need to determine the overall CPU load on the different systems. AWR is not a good place as it really doesn't show this. There are several OS-related utilities that can help capture this information over time. If you want one from Oracle, you can look for OSWatcher.
Re: Labs for Projects
Look for the implementation guide for setup info. The checklist will list the steps in order to setup or to check setups. For most setups, there are notes on what the choices do.
Look for the User Guide for usage info. For most activities, there are samples of how it should work in various scenarios.

Turns out the last time the pagelet was updated, they forgot to activate it.
