NSC | Asset Revaluation and Depreciation Status
The issue centered around assets that had undergone revaluation and were subsequently written down, but their status didn't update to "Fully Depreciated" even when the Net Book Value reached to zero.
The reason behind this discrepancy is related to the asset's lifetime. When an asset is revalued, only the cost is adjusted, while the Asset Lifetime remains unchanged. As a result, the asset continues to depreciate over the remaining lifetime, even if the Net Book Value is zero.
To ensure that assets are marked as "Fully Depreciated" after revaluation, the ADJ LIFETIME field should be adjusted. This field needs to be equal to the last depreciation period. For instance if the asset was depreciated for only 6 periods out of the initial 36 periods, the ADJ LIFETIME field should be updated accordingly, along with the Transaction Date and Write-down Amount.
