NSC | Cash Sales and Item Commitment Transaction Ordering Preference
Scenario:
The user has set the Item Commitment Transaction Ordering Preference to “by Expected Ship Date”, and while this works as expected for Sales Orders, it doesn’t appear to apply consistently to Cash Sale transactions.
Solution:
This behavior is working as designed in NetSuite. While Sales Orders follow the Item Commitment Transaction Ordering Preference, Cash Sales behave differently because of their immediate nature.
Why This Happens
- Sales Orders are typically fulfilled later, and their item commitments are prioritized based on the Expected Ship Date or whatever rule is set in Setup > Accounting > Preferences > Order Management > Item Commitment Transaction Ordering
