Load historic transactions

Is it possible within NetSuite to post a journal to an Customer AR Account, but for it not to be payable. I am trying to work out a way to load historical data into NetSuite. I want to load a years worth of AR invoices and a years worth of AR Payments which relate to those invoices but I do not want the time consuming job of going in to apply each payment to each invoice.

I am thinking about loading both the invoice and the associated payment via a journal

Will have the same issue with AP data (bills and payments)
