This post introduces the Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) Orders subject areas in Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI). It highlights how transportation teams can analyze order activity, investigate planning exceptions, and prioritize orders based on their business impact.
Content Description
The OTM Order Bases and Order Releases subject areas provide a foundation for transportation order analytics. They help teams explore order details and build analyses that support transportation planning.
The accompanying Order Health Monitor video demonstrates how planners can bring together workload, planning exceptions, priority releases, and open order value. It illustrates three areas of analysis: order visibility, planning exceptions, and customer impact.

About the Subject Areas
OTM Orders consists of two separate subject areas OTM Order Bases and OTM Order Releases.
The OTM – Order Bases subject area in Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI) provides visibility into transportation demand through order bases, order lines, and ship units. An order base represents the total quantity of goods to be transported, which may be released in portions over time. The subject area brings together order identifiers, types, priorities, statuses, reference numbers, and line and ship-unit details, allowing users to examine demand alongside packaging and scheduling requirements. Analysis by order creation date and OTM domain helps users identify demand patterns and investigate individual orders, while measures such as declared value provide additional business context. These capabilities help logistics teams understand upcoming transportation requirements, prioritize orders, investigate exceptions, and coordinate the transition from business demand to transportation planning.
The OTM – Order Releases subject area in FDI focuses on the specific quantities of goods submitted for transportation planning, covering order releases, release lines, ship units, and associated order movements. It brings together source and destination locations, pickup and delivery windows, order priorities, transportation modes, service providers, statuses, and reference numbers. Users can analyze release and line activity over time, inspect the composition of freight requirements, and use planning-status information to investigate releases awaiting planning or encountering planning failures. Order-movement details provide further context about the transportation legs associated with a release. These capabilities help planners assess workload, prioritize time-sensitive requirements, investigate planning bottlenecks, and improve coordination across the order-to-shipment process. Together, the two subject areas provide complementary perspectives on overall transportation demand and the requirements progressing through planning and execution.
Target Persona

Business Use Cases / Questions
The Order Health Monitor illustrates analysis across the following areas, with sample business questions:
- Order Visibility and Workload
- What is the current order workload and open order value?
- Which priority releases require attention?
- What order base and release details support further investigation?
- Planning Exceptions
- Which order releases have overdue pickups?
- Which orders have encountered planning failures?
- Where are exceptions concentrated across customers and lanes?
- Customer Impact and Prioritization
- Which customers are affected by planning exceptions?
- What open order value is associated with the affected orders?
- Which exceptions should planners investigate first?
AI Capabilities
The video demonstrates the AI Assistant alongside the analytics, allowing planners to explore order health through natural-language questions.
Example questions to adapt to the available workbook metrics include:
- “Show order releases with overdue pickups by customer.”
- “Which lanes have the most planning failures?”
- “Show open order value for priority releases.”
