This sounds like more of a filtering situation than a security situation. The filters you set on a canvas or chart will be passed down to the queries. I would recommend having a required parameter such as customer or account and when it is not set, you will just see blank charts. has a walk through.

These are great ideas. Thank you for the thoughtful analysis. I think the specific suggestion sound like different ideas. I do agree that the set is valuable and powerful. It would be helpful to break these out in to distinct ideas to help prioritize the different improvements here.

Some specific examples would be useful. A few keywords — most notably WITH — are constrained, but most SQL will work. We have customer using rather complex sql here — which might be better in a view of management — but it does enable a business user to do more complex things.

You need new apis for these cross-user operations. We are looking at the options here.

@Shubhendu Halder is this the query time (for user looking at a chart) or a timeout in some other scenario such as reloading a dataset with cached data.

You could implement an archive process as well if need such as export PDF to object store.

You can achieve this by moving to External Connections and then updating that connection with API.

ODBC is a useful tool. Most customers do have a current option (depending on the tool you want to use) which is to use JDBC instead of ODBC. OneCatalog will have DSS object (datasets, data flows, sequences, etc) stored in folders similar to Workbooks. It won't change the versioning story, so this idea is still a good idea to upvote.

You can use vanity URLs today. Can you be more specific about which UI or gesture has the limitation? A screen shot might be helpful.

This is a useful feature. Something you can do today is to add all of the datasets which need refreshing to a sequence and they will all be reloaded. I would recommend this as an immediate solution.

One troubleshooting step can be to delete the output dataset and try re-running the data flow. Note — you will need to reapply sharing permissions on the output dataset after running it for other users to access it.
