Guys, this is more limitation of Oracle DB, which does not support nested WITH clauses (CTE) - when create DS table out of manual SQL, when executed by BI Server (execution component of OAS/OAC), this SQL is always wrapped (by BI Server) by WITH clause . And when your manual SQL already contains WITH clause, you hit this…

I am joining the request for urgent implementation of this Idea (which is in Planned status). @Avinash Krishnaram-Oracle could you, pls, give us an notion to which OAC release is this highly-needed feature planned for? Thanks
-
Highly wanted feature - to be able effectively "manage" assignment of Db instance in DV connection via reference of connect descriptor defined in tnsnames.ora (central place for managing connection in our institution) instead of having to "paste" the whole connect string into connection definition. Basically we need same…

@Pravin Janardanam-Oracle Thanks for you response. But your reply: "Regarding the need for a static variable for a connection descriptor, the same is accomplished using "External System Connections." Multiple connection pools can be mapped to the same connection. When a connection descriptor needs to be updated—unlike a…

@Pravin Janardanam-Oracle Sorry to say that Pravin, but you are talking about completely different thing. What is wanted (as this can be done in Connection Pool definition in RPD) is to reference in following properties of Connection Pool: Data Source Name User Name static variables. Reason for using that in RPD is simple…

@Pravin Janardanam-Oracle @Bret Grinslade - Oracle Analytics-Oracle @Benjamin Arnulf-Oracle This idea has been incorrectly set to the Delivered state. What has been required - the ability to reference variables in the Connection Pool definition (as it is possible when developing RPD in the BI Administration Tool) is…

I had a quite long going discussion at the beginning of this year on this topic with @Bret Grinslade - Oracle Analytics-Oracle . It was mainly about all the hassles and pains with deployment/migration of DV objects between environments, which result from the very unfortunate concept of unique Connection and Data Set object…
-
@Jayaram Bodagala Your idea does not make much sense (according to my opinion). Data set permissions are maintained in DV UI (this is logical, since data set is DV object, not a "classical" object like analysis etc…). And benefit of being able to use data set for creation of analysis in "classic" (analytics) UI based on…

@Adam Bloom-Oracle I checked DV Console (Users and Groups) in OAS 2025 and it seems, that limitation has been removed there (you can create application role with space in middle of name in DV console). So I think, this Idea can be set to "Delivered" status. Thanks for implementing.

@Bret Grinslade - Oracle Analytics-Oracle Bret, the option, you are referring to, is working, but honestly, it is not ideal (it is very laborious and a little bit "clumsy") - as also mentioned by @Rajakumar Burra above: You need to create/replicate Dashboard filter on all canvases visualization You need to create…

@Boris G. If you feel, that you are waiting (for pretty simple stuff) too long, you can go for escalation procedure for particular SR, which gives more attention to this SR (you need to justify it, but it is not a big deal). Sometimes it helps to speed up processing. Michal

Just to make comparison to "classics" - analysis have so called "Filter view", which displays current filter conditions applied to analysis (and this view is part of export as a well). So to have similar concept in DV workbook would be definitely helpful. Voting for this idea.

@Boris G. My recommendation as to communication with Support: If you are convinced that you are correct (which is obvious when it comes to correct French translations), than does not allow any discussion or free interpretation from their site (referring to Google Translate as a “ethalon” for correct translations is really…

Addition to @Gianni Ceresa reply: We (as customer using Czech UI for Data Visualization in OAS) are having quite rich experience with missing Czech translation of couple of "elements" in DV UI - it always happens with new yearly release of OAS (now we are collecting missing Czech translations for OAS 2025). And the only…

Features around incremental (and flexible) deployment of DV objects between environments are (again) missing in roadmap (big gap in product). Also feature "Anonymous/public access workbook publishing" is still not moving from "Future" column to at least "Upcoming" column - it is in "Future" since ages (firstly appearing in…

@Mike Durran-Oracle Mike, what would be good for workbook manipulation/settings (or other functionality)via API is following: Setting name and description of workbook (this should be more belonging to API for Catalog, but it is not there) Setting JSON definition of workbook (after changing it programmatically - for example…
-
And changing workbooks via API is also planned ?
-
@Brandon Vorbeck-Oracle Manipulation of DV workbooks should be definitely next on the list for future extension- @Mike Durran-Oracle - is it on the roadmap ?
-
@Mike Durran-Oracle Hi Mike, thanks for delivering REST API as part of OAS 2025, we certainly appreciate that (and after performing upgrade to OAS 2025 we will start to test it and use it). I hope, that REST API is still evolving and other remaining functionality (data set manipulation for example) will come.

Upvoted. More options/flexibility for defining filters is definitely desired. I created Idea (one year ago), which falls into same category: So my Idea can be treated as "subset" of this very broadly conceived idea.
