HTML Offer Letter - Successfully sending?.. With data fields?..

I am hoping someone out there has the magic "code" to help me solve this issue.. 

The long and short is that we developed an HTML Offer Letter that merged and looked great, but won't send..  When I noted this problem to Support they offered a solution that was email-able however they had taken out all the data fields and could not tell me how to get them back in without breaking the send capability again..

They have since told me that this issue is system wide and may not be resolved until Jan - or who knows when..
