Closing 2017 Performance Document

We are trying to determine how to handle the 2017 performance reviews that have the manager evaluation completed but the employee hasn’t acknowledged.  If we decide to set these to completed, do we have the option to add a reason?  For instance, do you run a process to move the acknowledgment task forward to complete a batch process or individually move each task forward?  I know if they are individually moved forward then a reason can be added but if they are batch processed, do you have the ability to add a reason?
