How does the system calculate the geolocation of an activity? Coordinates or address?

Summary:

We need to understand how the system calculate the geolocation on the map. We import to OFS activities through rest API, and we import both coordinates and address of the activity, both of them are correctly saved and displayed in OFS, but sometimes the system is not able to calculate the geolocation on maps
