EJ's solution was the only one that consistently worked for us. Thank you!

    To Add:

If BI Publisher is still not displaying, follow solution from Oracle Doc ID 2681769.1.

    1. Open Word
    2. File > Options > Add-Ins
    3. Under Manage dropdown at the bottom, switch to "Disabled Items" and click Go
    4. Re-enable BI Publisher Template Builder add-in
    5. Back at the Manage dropdown, switch to "COM Add-ins" and click Go
    6. Select checkbox for BI Publisher Template Builder for Word
    7. Builder should now be active and the menu appears in the Word ribbon

EJ's solution has worked consistently for us. (Thank you Ezhilendhi!)

In addition, you may need to implement follow Doc 2681769.1 after performing EJ's solution.

    1. Go to Word
    2. Nav to File > Options > Add-ins
    3. Go to "Manage" at the bottom, and select "Disabled Items"; click Go.
    4. BI Publisher Template Builder for Word is moved to Inactive Application Add-ins.
    5. Set "Manage" on the bottom to "COM Add-ins" then click Go.
    6. BI Publisher Template Builder for Word is displayed. Click the checkbox then OK.
    7. BI Publisher Template Builder for Word is Active and the menu appears on Word ribbon.

Thought I'd share some troubleshooting notes…

We're using the BI Publisher Desktop 12.214.00.000 version of the addin. (Installer is named OracleAnalyticsPublisherDesktop-6.4.0-win64)

The latest version of Word in the Semi-Annual Enterprise update channel seems to be working ok. Microsoft® Word for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2402 Build 16.0.17328.20550) 64-bit

When I switch to the Current update channel, and Word updates to version 2407 build 17830.20166, it breaks the 12.2.1.4/6.4.0 version of the add in as described in this thread.

I then uninstalled the 12.2.1.4/6.4.0 version and installed the OracleAnalyticsPublisherDesktop-7.0.0-win64 / 12.2.7.0.0 version . That version seems to work fine, as Arif-Oracle pointed out.

    Hi all,
I've detected the same issue this week with word document, I've replaced the Oracle Analytics Publisher Desktop to the last version 12.2.7.0 and the issue didn't fix.

Word plugin was working on Friday, but today it doesn't. Must have had another Office update? I've tried the disable/enable steps mentioned. Even tried deleting the "LoadCount" item from the Registry. Nothing works. Excel plugin still appears to be working fine.

I have the same problem, despite all attempts

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks for commenting on this - I thought I was going mad last week - what has worked for me is the command prompt line as per User_5BASX comments. Will keep updates paused until this is fixed (always had to use a different computer as I don't have admin rights on the other one!).

Like previously mentioned, I'm guessing most people who use company computers are not in control of downgrading versions of Office and/or managing software installs. I know I can't. So in the meantime…is there a fix coming? Or do we just have to wait until Microsoft updates Office to work with the Word BI Publisher plug-in?

    For Arif-Oracle -

FYI, I think the KB article needs to be updated for the below statement to say "July 2024" instead of 2023

    4. Removing installed individual KBs applied after July 2023 (possibly KB5040562, KB5037932 and KB5040430)
