Hi,

Last week I got the message while opening Word.

Word is running into problems with the tbaddin64 add-in. If this keeps happening, disable this add-in and check for updates later.

After disabeling it, I am not finding BI Publisher icon in the ribbon.

We have found that the MS Word 2409 version fixes this issue. Can anyone else confirm this?

I am working with my software delivery team to keep testing this today and can provide an update with screenshots soon.

Also confirming back from my Sept 18th comment.  MS Word Version 2409 fixes this issue for myself and a few others at our company.

Thank you everyone for the updates and your patience in this matter. Glad to see that the MS Word Version 2409 has resolved the issue with most customers. I will go ahead and update the BIP KM article to reflect this as well.

    Thank you!

    Arif

I have the same issue since 8/6/24. I have reset my laptop to factory default, reinstalled office, then BI Publisher Desktop. See this error the first time I open Words. After disabling I do not see BI Publisher icon.

I am also getting the same error in Word about the tbaddin64 add-in today on Aug 8, 2024. It looks like my version of Office 365 just updated to:

    Version 2407: August 01 Version 2407 (Build 17830.20138) https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/current-channel

So I imagine that is what broke the BIP plugin. I don't see any type of rollback option here in office to revert to the prior version.

I am facing the same issue. I can't even open word without disabling the add-in. I get the following error msg when I open Word: Word is running into problems with the 'tbaddin64' add-in. If this keeps happening, disable this add-in and check for available updates. Do you want to disable it now?" I had to complete a report and needed the BI publisher, but now I will have to find another machine where this runs properly.

Same issue. Cannot launch Word. Excel seems fine - no errors and the BIPub plugin appears to be working.

Anyone have a solution or work around?

Same issue, same error message. Starting on 8-Aug.

"Work Around" is to to start Word, disable the plug-in. in the Add-in enable it again. Close Word, restart and hope …

After an average of three times repeating the same, Word is starting with the plug-in.

Same issue. Affecting our entire team and bringing our reporting processes to a stand still.

  • Because many of you seem to relate this issue with a recent update of Office 365, there is maybe not a quick-fix (because it could be something that Microsoft changed without really telling anything to Oracle).

Did somebody raise a SR? That's the fastest way to report a problem that could require Oracle to release a fix of some kind (or a MOS document providing a workaround).

The work around offered above did not work for me…This is widespread among our team as a service provider, as well as certain customers. - An SR is in store.

After talking with our internal Office365 team it has become clear it is a two fold problem.

    1. Microsoft update made the BI Publisher plugin not compatible.
    2. BI Publisher plugin needs better support to work with Microsoft so this issue doesn't arise again.
