Show only results where most recent message is incoming

Hi,

I'm trying to create a saved search that will help us manage sales orders that require payment before release.  The goal is that anyone in our operations department should be able to see an order that is being held pending payment where the most recent message is incoming from the customer (no matter who in the company was the recipient of that message).  This would eliminate failure to ship an order because the intended recipient at our company was in a meeting, mismanaged an email, never received the email to their inbox, etc.

I want to see results where the sales order sub-status(custom) is "payment required" and the most recent message logged under the transaction is incoming.  I'm having trouble figuring out how to capture only the most recent email.  So far, I've only been able to capture results where there is an incoming email, but that doesn't quite get me what I need.  Has anyone had experience with this?
