The Subscription feature helps you stay abreast of community activities and participate when new discussions are added.
How do I subscribe to a category (discussion forum/idea lab/events calendar)?
To subscribe to a category, click on the "Notification preferences" link on the right side of the category page and choose one of the following options:
- Follow this Category - adds a link to the category under My Categories (Following), which is accessible from your user menu (by clicking on your avatar on the top right corner of a page). This does not change your notifications at all.
- Follow New discussions - adds a link to the category under My Categories (Following), AND notifies you of future new discussions as popup notification.
- Follow Discussions and Comments - adds a link to the category under My Categories (Following), AND notifies you of future new discussions and comments as popup notification.
- Unfollow - By default, if you haven’t followed a category and you click on Notification Preferences, your selection will show Unfollow. If you’re already following a category, you can come back and select Unfollow in order to disable all notifications and remove it from the My Categories (Following) page within your notification preferences.
Note: The default notification mechanism is a pop-up alert only. If you would like to receive email notifications, click on More preferences to go to your Notification Preferences page where you can check the Email notification box. Don't forget to save your preferences.
How do I view all my subscriptions?
You can view your followed categories and manage your subscriptions all in one place, by navigating to your user menu in the upper right corner and selecting "My Notification Preferences." On this page, you can edit your subscriptions for categories you are currently following, as well as other notification preferences (such as subscription to idea status change, bookmarked discussions). Be sure to save your changes.
