How to create a template for internal and external pages

I hope this is the best place to put this post.
I am having an issue with the templates on the knowledge base area of our site. Currently we use knowledge base internally and externally. Meaning that the same topics and solutions are available on our website for customers or via or NetSuite account for employees. The problem is I can only select one layout / template for both areas. For aesthetic reasons the templates include CSS classes, this works great for the external site, but the style.css can't be pulled up for the internal NetSuite site. This makes the internal site completely unusable as without margins the tables appear almost
