As you are #NewtoNetsuite, you might be wondering about Advance PDF/HTML Templates and how they can benefit your Business.
Advances PDF/HTML Templates is a feature in NetSuite that allows you to customize printed and emailed transactions. These include Invoices, purchase orders, sales orders, packing slips, and more. By using these templates, you can create professional-looking documents that align with your company’s branding and style.
First, the feature must be enabled in your account for you to access advanced templates and the template editor.
(Note: This is only available to account administrators and other users who have the Advance PDF/HTML permission. For more information, see SuiteAnswers 9921.)
To ensure that the Advanced PDF/HTML Templates feature is enabled, go to Setup > Company > Enable Features. On the SuiteCloud tab, under SuiteBuilder, ensure that the Advanced PDF/HTML Templates box is checked.
For more information, see SuiteAnswers 26495.
If the feature is enabled on your account, you can now create and edit advanced templates, also, you can choose if you want your template to produce PDF or HTML outputs.
Customizing your Template:
Customizing Advanced PDF/HTML templates NetSuite supports all transaction and print types that are supported by basic layouts. You first need to check if the transaction layout you want to customize is included on the list page.
After selecting the template, you have two options on how to customize the template. You can use the WYSIWYG editor, or you can use the source code markup.
WYSIWYG Editing in the Template Editor
In WYSIWYG mode, you can easily add fields, images, and tables, or print elements such as text, page numbers, page breaks, horizontal lines, headers, and footers by clicking a button on the New Element toolbar to add HTML-based elements. If you are not sure what element a button represents, you can point to the button to display a tooltip.
You can also edit the format by clicking on the Styles toolbar. You can use these options to control the styling, alignment, and position of elements of your template.

Source Code Editing in the Template Editor
In Source Code toggle mode, you can manually edit the markup source of your template by using HTML and FreeMarker directives.
If you do not have any experience in HTML and CSS coding, please do not modify the markup source directly. It is better to consult with someone who has sufficient CSS and HTML knowledge since this might cause the template to not work properly.

Best Practices for Customizing Your Advanced PDF/HTML Templates:
· Copying and pasting source codes: To avoid issues when copying and pasting the code, use a plain text editor to check for any hidden characters since this usually causes errors upon saving.
· You can preview your templates before saving them: Advanced PDF/HTML templates supports previewing of templates. This enables you to see how template changes affect PDF output during the time that are editing a template. This works on both WYSIWYG and markup source editing modes.
· Copying an Old Advanced Template? If you want to use an existing customized advanced template as the basis for a new template, you can use the Save As button to save a template under another name.
· Save & Edit: If you want to save the progress of your template edits but want to continue making further edits, just click Save & Edit. This will save you a lot of time rather than saving it and looking for the template again in the lists.
By utilizing Advanced PDF/HTML templates and implementing best practices, users can enhance the professionalism of their business documents by matching their layout to their business preferences and saving time while doing it.
