SuiteTip: Ensuring Consistency in Report Comparisons

edited Jun 2, 2025 2:51PM in Tips & Best Practices

Welcome back to SuiteTip, where we share tips and best practices to improve your NetSuite reporting experience!

When comparing reports, ensuring period and date consistency is crucial to achieve completeness and accuracy. Having consistent filters and understanding the reporting preferences can help you avoid discrepancies and ensure that your reports are aligned for a meaningful analysis.

Important things to consider when checking consistency between reports:

1.) Period Mismatches: Mismatched dates can occur, especially if the 'Allow Transaction Date Outside of Posting Period' option in Accounting Preferences is enabled. This can lead to discrepancies when comparing reports. For example, a transaction dated September 14, 2024, can have a posting period of October 2024 if the September 2024 period is already closed.
