Setting "NA" field value for a Date field

Hi Friends,

I have a requirement where i need to assign "NA" value to a Date type entity field whenever it has to be left out blank.

This is going to be helpful for the reporting needs.

So far my understanding and what i have read over NS help section, i think that Date type field is allowed to take only the values in format  specified under "Setup->Company->General Preferences" section.

Does anyone knows some workaround by which i can skip this system format?
