Advanced Templates for Printing Saved Search Results

Has anyone used this new feature released 2017.1?  I created a custom record type and corresponding saved search and while the process seems pretty straight forward, I've been told it could take upwards of 80 hours of development to write the html in order to format the form.  For anyone who has used this, are there any tricks you can share?
