Phase Manufacturing

We are a skin care manufacturer and manufacture our formulas in phases (i.e. Phase A add Water and Oil, Phase B add Active 1, Phase C Add Active 2 and Active 3)

I am trying to find an easy way to configure my Assembly items so as to reference which phase each member item (raw Material) is part of. keep in mind we manufacturer hundreds of formulas and our raw materials are used in multiple assemblies, so i cannot reference this on the item record, it is specific to each assembly.

any input is appreciated.
