Email Siguature missing carriage returns

So I have an email signature defined in preferences.  I also have the check box  Add Signature to Messages enabled.

For new messages (emailing from a quote transaction for example), the signature is included but it is missing all carriage returns and line breaks.

This:

 Regards,    Name  Title    Phone #    Disclaimer/legal jargon


Becomes this:
Regards, Name Title Phone # Disclaimer/legal jargon


Template format is set to scriptable on the message if that matters.
