Longtexts on PDF Transaction layouts

I have added a number of custom fields to my pdf layouts for invoice and picklist. Some of these fileds are of type longtext. This is used for example to add shipping details to the pick lists.

My problem is now that the field just prints one line and then ... even that the field would allow much more text to be printed.

I know that this works for the message field and for fields on the line item columns.

Is there any way to get this for just free defined custom fields?
