NetSuite and ASCII

Hello , POS /retail solutions often communicate with ASCII files . Is it possible for NetSuite to interface with such systems?  In Greece we cannot sell /position NetSuite Retail so we have to integrate NS with an existing POS system . Any previous experience on this issue is valuable. In our case CSV or REST API are not applicable practices it seems ....
