Item/Category Layout Sort Order

This is Support Case 604975

On the Item/Category Layout page there is a field called "Sort By" / kSortColumn.

The possible values are:
1) Name
2) Price
3) Sequence

No matter which setting we use, the item list will always sort in Sequence mode.

We are using a custom List Template and a custom List Cell Template

Is there a setting we are missing?
