multi web site search

We've purchased the multi website module and have nearly completed our second site.  We have some items that are only displayed in a category that only exists in the second site.  However, we can pull up some of these items using the first website's search.

We created a case (631302) for this last week but have not heard anything yet.  Is anyone else using multi websites experiencing the same thing?  Is there a setting somewhere we've missed?
