Custom form - can it also log in?

Hello

I'm using a custom form to allow users to create a webstore account. Can I have this also log the customer into the website? ie. User fills in details on form, name, email, password1, password2 etc. After they click submit, it takes them to our website but they still need to log in. Can this form automate the log-in process somehow?
