Can anyone help with some HTML code?

I want to out a thumbnail of a second (custom) image on some items in my site. If there is no image I don't want to dislay a place holder I would like it to be "invisible". I would like the thumbnail to be 200x200 and when a user clicks it it pops up a full size image in a new window. I have no idea how to do this but would appreciate if someone would kindly send me the code to achieve this.
