Remove Partner?

I just enabled the Partner functionality in NetSuite, since we have just begun working with a partner.  However, in trying to follow the help files, instead of associating my partner with a customer it turned my customer into a partner. 

So now I have two partners: my actual partner and this customer.  I would like to delete the customer/partner, but I'm afraid if I do it will also delete the customer (which I assume would not be allowed by the system, but I don't want to try it). 

Any advice on how to get this partner out of the system without impacting the customer?
