I give up. What is the trick to print a simple PDF collapsed General Ledger for my Accountant?

I need a fully collapsed General Ledger. I can't get anywhere because doing a General Ledger gives me the error "The results of this report are too large. Please narrow your results".  I tried editing and saving as collapsed.  I tried scheduling it so that it would email the results to me.  It sends a full 7,000 page report.  It won't send it collapsed. What else?
